You know how much I love making a bucket list for our family each season. Well, it’s time for me to make one for Christmas! I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. But the Christmas season kicks into high gear right after Thanksgiving, so it’s time to start planning. Here’s what I hope our family will do this Christmas season.
We decorated our tree yesterday, so I can check one off of our list already. (That’s right. I put something on our to-do list that has already been completed. Like you’ve never done that before!) We normally decorate the tree during Thanksgiving weekend, but Thanksgiving is just so darn late this year. I just couldn’t wait any longer!
Baltimore has one city block that goes all out every year. It’s 34th Street in Hampden and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. We never made it down there last year, but I’m hoping to this year.
There are so many holiday train garden displays around town that we like to visit. A few of our favorites are at Broom’s Bloom Dairy, The Shops at Kenilworth, and the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company. It’s amazing how creative some model train collectors can be!
Maryland has a huge Festival of Trees, held every Thanksgiving weekend at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. But our favorite is the Festival of Trees in Bel Air to benefit the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance. It’s smaller and much less crowded, but wonderful.
Everything else on our list is typical Christmas fun. We usually let the boys pick out a new ornament every year. We like to drive around in the evening and look at all of the beautiful Christmas lights. The boys have their favorite Christmas movies that they like to watch every year and I have mine. We let the boys pick out gifts to give to family members and their choices are usually very cute. Of course we have to bake cookies, drink hot chocolate, and eat candy canes. And what’s Christmas without visiting Santa!
What’s on your bucket list for your family this Christmas?
